I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Co-op (Brighton, England) in Sep 2019
Interview
Upload CV online then went for an interview 1:1 and asked the basic interview questions. No cover letter needed and was given a tour of the shop. Explained the benefits of working in the Co-op and asked for my availability.
Interview was long. At first I had to do a simple maths and English test which was fine. Then waited a long time to be seen by anyone. Then was interviews by two members of staff. Interview was very formal.
I applied in-person. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Co-op (Manchester, England) in Nov 2019
Interview
The process took so long, submitted my application online, 6 weeks later, after chasing, got a telephone interview, a further two weeks and chased again, got called in for an interview. One lady interviewer, I could tell as soon as she looked at me, she wasn’t gonna give me a chance - a feeling I never got anywhere else. She was condescending and basically wanted me out of there ASAP. I dont see the CO-OP in high praise anymore, she was typical middle management that thought her values were more important than that of the CO-OP, shame as I heard lots of good comments from friends who had previously worked there.
The interview questions were aimed at internal Staff because each question asked was ‘what did you contribute to co-op success’ etc, she didn’t even bother changing the questions (there were several of these).
It took a further month for the outcome even though she said I would know by the following week.
