I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Dell Technologies (Jaipur, Rajasthan) in Aug 2018
Interview
Firstly, there was a pen and paper test with 2 coding questions and 10 mcqs which were technical + aptitude questions.
After that students who got selected were divided into a team of 4 each. 5 topics were given out of which each team had to select one and make a working project on that. A week time was given to think about the project and on one day you have to build the whole project (hackathon). People from the company were monitoring us and each team was assigned a mentor from Dell. If you couldn't complete your project on that day, you can finish it later as well.
The next day you have to give a presentation of your project and tell your contribution. In that presentation they didn't ask any technical questions, how did you do that, etc. nothing.
After that they started calling some people from each team, and those who weren't called were eliminated( no one knew what was the basis of elimination.. our speaking skills for a technical job? ) 24 people out of 84 gave the HR interview (still there was no technical interview).
At the end, they selected 14 people and students were rejected in the HR round as well.
The whole process was very time consuming and according to majority of students they didn't check any of our technical skills. Students were extremely disappointed with the selection.. anyone who spoke better than the other or took the credit of someone else got selected. Didn't expect this from a company like Dell where you randomly select students for the job and disappoint the other students. No one could analyze what went wrong.
Also during our presentation as majority of students had HP laptops, they did comment on that as well that it's old technology, why are you using that. Being a part of such a big company, such comments are not expected.
It was an overall a very bad experience, a lot of time and energy was wasted.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Where do you want to work Hyderabad or Bangalore? This was the question asked in the HR interview and after this they rejected students.

I got placed in DELL through a hackathon based process. The process involved hackathon(8 hours), presentation(10min) and HR interview. We were asked to form groups of 4 students and the topic of hackathon was given a week prior to the process. It was a 2-day process. The first round was hackathon for 8 hours and we were asked to build the product. There was a panel of experts from Dell who were very helpful and kept us motivated throughout the process. On the second day, every group was given 10 min time for presentation and demo. Panelists were more interested in the demo part (than presentation). Around 40% were shortlisted for HR round. Around 20% of total participants were selected for the job.

The Dell Interview process was held through a hackathon. The problems that we were trying to solve were mostly social and real-life business problems faced by Dell. All the problems were to be solved using Artificial Intelligence, Machine learning, etc. All the teams had to create a product that solved the problem.
During the Hackathon, we were being judged by Dell committee members who had prior experience in these areas and guided us too. After the day of the hackathon, we had to present our product in front of the Dell team. It took about 10 minutes where they judged us on the basis of team-work, extreme pair programming, etc.
After judging a few teams, the committee shortlisted approximately from the presentations for the behavioural interview. In this interview, candidates were judged upon soft skills and culture fit to the company.
