      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Deutsche Bank (New York, NY)

      Interview

I do not usually spend time to post my experiences to websites like this, but I felt this worthy of a read for anyone looking to apply for a position at DB: I applied for the position in February 2016. I received an email response from a member of internal recruiting team requesting my current compensation and why I was looking to make a change. I provided information and heard back about 5 days later asking for my availability for a first round in person interview on a Friday a week later. I took a day off and came to the office and met with who I would report to (VP level) and a Director on the team. I heard back the following Thursday that they would like to set up another interview with other members of the team (with another VP and Managing Director (MD)) and suggested I come in the following Tuesday. I was not able to make the Tuesday work because I had to travel out of state for work, I suggested the Friday I got back, but they were not able to accommodate. The MD I was to meet with was out of office the following week, so we settled on the following Friday. A pretty long gap, but perfectly reasonable. Come Monday afternoon of that week, I received notification that Friday was no longer good and asked if I could move up to Wednesday to accommodate the MD. It took a lot of last minute reshuffling of my schedule but I was able to get it done. The following day (Tuesday) they let me know that the MD would not be able to meet and that I would be meeting with someone else. I came in Wednesday as planned for the second round and met with the VP and the MDs "replacement". . The following Monday, I heard back from the recruiter that they would like me to come in and meet the MD as last round. Recruiter suggested Friday (Good Friday), which I thought was peculiar since it is a market holiday. I had plans to go away Thursday night for the weekend since I had Good Friday off. I told the recruiter Friday was not ideal since I had planned to go away, but if this is when the MD was available I would make it work.We confirmed Friday. Come Wednesday afternoon I received word from the Recruiter that the MD would be out of office on Friday and asked for alternate times I was available. At this stage is when I started to get frustrated. I asked if possible if we could setup times outside of standard working hours (9-5) to meet. The times provided as options to me were not able to accommodate this so we settled on a later afternoon appointment the following Friday. I reshuffled my schedule to be able to accommodate the late afternoon meeting for that Friday. It is not easy to get out of work for a mid afternoon interview without looking suspicious after all, but I wanted to get the process over with. Come Wednesday afternoon I received word again that the MD was unable to keep the Friday appointment and asked what was my availability for the following week. At this stage, I am completely shocked at the level of unprofessionalism. I sent the recruiter an email explaining the situation and how I've made accommodations to my schedule to meet with the MD on at least 3 occasions and that out of respect for my current employer I am hesitant to setup another date. I requested that if possible I interview with the MD via phone. The email was very tactful and was void of any emotion even-though I was furious. The recruiter responded back and apologized profusely and said she would get back to me on whether my request could be accommodated. She emailed back the following day saying that at this stage, candidates would need to meet the MD in person but if anything changed she would let me know. I emailed back again requesting if any before/after business hour appointments could be made. Today I received notification from the recruiter that Team would not be pursuing my candidacy any further. Given the hoops they made me jump through and the way they treat candidates I was not at all upset about not getting the position at DB. I can only imagine how I would be treated as an employee. Hopefully just an isolated incident, but based on the experience not a company I would like to work for. Bad behavior should not be ignored and you should never act as if another person's time/commitments are less important than your own.
