I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Discover in Apr 2016
Interview
There was one phone interview following with two online meeting interviews. The first meeting was with human resource manager, and she asked me several basic behavioral questions. It was not difficult. The latter two were with the analysts working in the office I applied to. The interviews were coordinated online using Web meeting system. Testing or getting used to the system before the meeting is recommended so that you can use the system smoothly on the interview and be on time (not too early or too late).
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The first phone interview asked some basic behavioral questions.
The latter two asked the behavioral questions and also about the research projects I've involved in. Also there is one tricky question 'Tell me one innovation you made recently'.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Discover (Riverwoods, IL) in Nov 2019
Interview
Met recruiter at a conference. Got a call 2 weeks later for a phone interview by another recruiter. Then had an on-site at the Discover Campus in Illinois. Discover really takes care of you throughout the process. There is an evening reception the night before the super day- this is an opportunity to check what kind of projects interns have worked on in the past and which team you would fit into.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The biggest focus is on culture fit and then technical skills. The super-day has a speed dating format where you have two 45 minute interviews with a rotating interviewer in the same room.
General behavioral questions on how you manage several projects at the same time, describe a time you had a difficult stakeholder, why Discover.
Technical questions on your past data based project. What variables did you use and why? Rate your SQL experience- then a couple query based questions.
Overall a really solid process!
