TL;DR I didn’t wait for the offer and would decline the offer anyway. I attended only 3 rounds, the 1st round was the general interview. The 2nd round was the technical interview. The 3rd round was project interview. Everything went well until the 3rd round. It was the worst interview I had for 10 years. There was no such construction question nor good environment. It was full of nitpickers asking trivial questions that can search google or ChatGPT to answer. It was such a regretful 1 hour I spent for the session rather than for netflix. The interviewers were extremely finicky. They came with a list of trivial questions and try to ask all of them within 1 hour. They don’t even listen to me. Maybe because the session was recorded so they don’t care. Almost every questions were about “what is the different between A and B” that relate to core java system and some java based tools but deep dive into how they were implemented behind the scene. This happen during the project interview which aim to understand more about project. It was such a wasteful time spent on so many trivial questions until end of session that left me only 2 minutes to ask. The interview session was like the inquisition in the court. At the end, I did not even know what are the scopes of my responsibility, nor interviewer can answer. They also didn’t even know what project I would join. They spent only 2 minutes boasted me about their project and how gigantic it was at the beginning of session but I did not tell me what problems the project was trying to solve. The rest of the time were spent for those list of question they prepared. All I know was they kept telling me that they need to use apache spark. These are the sign of how disorganize and chaos was within the org. Also this kind of nitpicker trait is a sign of toxic work environment and micromanagement. To Interviewer 1 hour interview does not mean only 1 hour you take from candidate. You take them 2-3 hours. Somebody may need to shift their errands and go back home for this sessions. Somebody may need to switch the context to prepare for the interview earlier. Somebody require meditation, concentration, or even shower to refresh before the session. Many interview sessions doesn’t mean you will look professional. It’s opposite that indicate the recruitment process was not well functioned and effective enough to evaluate the candidate. Also waste their time to attend especially some candidates who are still working in other org that need to spend their leave day to attend this such a useless session.
