I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Elon University in Jan 2021
Interview
I believe this is one of the longest and most ridiculous interview processes I've been through. Initially I was excited. I was told the process would be 2 interviews and an exercise. After an initial screening interview, there was another with 3 people. I was assigned to do an exercise and after completing it I didn't hear back for a month. I had to send a follow up email and I was told I passed to another round where they wanted to see ANOTHER exercise and then I would move on to a final in-person interview. After completing the second exercise, They told me they would get back to me the next week and I did not hear from them for another 3 weeks. I sent another follow up email just to be told I did not pass the round. I don't mind the rejection and I understand the hiring process is time consuming, however I feel it is disrespectful to people's time and energy to essentially go through 4+ rounds of interviewing and exercises without hearing back for weeks to a month in-between. I've interviewed for companies and have been hired in less than a month. They definitely need to work on communication and shortening their hiring process
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Has there been a time where you had an idea that was met with some pushback. How did you handle that situation?
2 rounds-- first a zoom interview then on campus. On campus portion includes a presentation and multiple meetings with academic advising team and campus partners. The zoom interview is 30 minutes and the on campus portion interview lasts around 6 hours but with many breaks. I got a phone call with an offer a little over a week later.

Question 1
there were no trick questions. Just asked me about previous experience, why I want to be an academic advisor, and a few scenario questions. Also asked to explain times I helped students in the past and projects I've worked on.
Very good people. Felt welcome in the interview. Basically asked if the task would be research or study. My focus was study. Very happy to accept. Mana mana, but that's how the world works
