I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Fortinet (Burnaby, BC) in May 2021
Interview
After applying to the new grad general position, they interviewed me for the DevOps position.
- Phone screen to tell you about the company and the job description.
- First round was a 48 hour take home project.
- Second round was an aptitude test which involved multiple choice and a small amount of programming.
- Third round was the in person interview, where they asked me about previous experience and skills. The interview was with 3 managers, and only one of them actually looked at my round 1 project. All he said was "yeah, it was pretty good". Then they spent quite some time asking me about the C+ grade I received in a math course in my first semester back in 2016. I'm not exactly sure why that particular course mattered so much. Personally, it felt as if they had not prepared for my interview, so they were randomly thinking of something to talk about. Finally, there were a few behavioral questions. The interview was very dry and there was no conversation between us, just a question, an answer, and then "okay".
After the third interview , I was ghosted. I am not happy with my experience because I felt like my interviewers were unprepared and really just didn't care about what I did or was saying. I spent a lot of time on the take home project and the aptitude test, they could have at least taken a look at that and asked me questions about it, instead of grilling me about a course I did poorly in back when I just came out of high school. I think the interview process really depends on the team you are interviewing for. In my case, it was very poor and I have a very negative opinion of this company.
