The first round interview was scheduled for July 10. It was a 45-minute long technical interview with a developer from Fujitsu. We had a shared document, where they posted a text description of a coding problem that I had to solve and explain my solution. The document was a webpage with a very limited code editor (only some basic syntax highlighting), and my language of choice was Java.
The problem wasn't a difficult one. I would rate it as "easy" in LeetCode terms. I was able to solve it in about 30 minutes and we had time to manually go through the solution line by line, like a debugger would, "executing" the code. I was told that I would be contacted by a recruiter later on about the results. I had mixed but mostly good feelings after this interview, as I was able to solve the problem and it was easier than I expected.
I received positive feedback in about a week. At this point, there was some kind of confusion about the person who would be my point of contact throughout the process and whether they wanted a Senior engineer for this position or not. On August 2, after several emails sent back and forth, I was finally asked for my availability for the second round of interviews.
