I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Gartner (Fort Myers, FL) in Aug 2021
Interview
Discouraging. Not your typical process. No cameras on, round robin and not accepting of an answer if not specific enough. If you can fit the mold they absolutely want I’m sure it’s fine but they definitely only pick candidates through the rounds who meet their very narrow minded interview approach.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Describe a time you had difficulty getting an answer from someone and how did you proceed to get the answer. Give specific examples.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Gartner (London, England)
Interview
The hiring process is difficult but rewarding.
The company have the right method in hiring. They ensure their recruiters coach you and provide proper feedback throughout the interview process.
First stage was a basic call with the recruiter to get a feel for your experience, why you’d be interested in Gartner. They will tell you a bit about the company and what they do. 30 min call.
Second stage was an official interview with the same recruiter. They give you some loose advice as to what they will be looking for in their first call so make sure to take notes! You don’t need to know the company in detail, but know enough to be able to talk about it and why you’d be a good fit. 1 hr interview.
Third stage was an interview with a ‘skills accessor’. This is where it starts to get a bit tougher. The accessor will ask questions on your skills, why Gartner, your sales process, what you would do if a customer was being difficult etc. It finished with a 10 minute roleplay where you essentially have to act as someone trying to prospect a customer. You will get a CEO profile beforehand from the recruiter to look over. You do NOT have to sell Gartner in this call! You just need to ask questions, as many useful questions as possible in a consultative manner. CLOSE THE CALL WITH A MEETING. If you don’t do consultative selling then its worth having a quick looks online to pick up some tips. You will need to provide your quota & current achievements prior to this call. 1 hr 15 interview.
Fourth stage was an interview that had the lead skills accessor and two account executives on board. They will drill and drill. They say its supposed to be conversational but it was definitely an interrogation at times, so be ready to answer difficult follow up questions to answers you’ve given. Similar questions to before only these guys are in the role so they know sales a bit better, they know the questions to ask. As before, know your sales figures vs quota and be able to explain your sales process. Finishes with a 15 min roleplay. They will give you two sheets beforehand with limited information and they really leave it up to you to interpret it. One you’ll get after the last meeting, the second you’ll get 15 minutes before this interview. They will ask some tough questions on why parts of it pertain to Gartner and what could Gartner do in the situation. The roleplay is tougher, and is essentially a follow up call to the previous roleplay. Know Gartner a bit more and be able to close the call with a meeting as with before.
One last thing - STAR. Their entire process is based on the STAR interview approach.. and they will remind you mid-interview of this if you veer off, so use it!
My only complaint was the reasoning for not getting further! They said I was great etc and was very coachable which is what they wanted, but then said i wasn’t ready.
Recruitment - best support team I’ve seen in a company, thank you!!

Interview
Interview was a little lengthy, and consisted of a role play. Prior to the interview, you are given papers that contain information that will be on the role play. Personally, as a recent college graduate, I found it to be a very difficult interview. However, I did learn a lot.
