The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Gartner (Egham, England) in Sep 2012
Interview
The selection process is very structured and thourough. From the very first contact, I was made aware of the criteria (personality traits based), setting (treat every interaction with Gartner as a sales call/meeting), purpose (mutually decide if you/Gartner are a good match) and next steps. These were consistently and professionally followed for all the 5 stages, I always received in depth feedback and had every question of mine addressed in full transparency.
In terms of process: calls with talent acquisition (deep focus on traits), calls/meeting with hiring manager (testing and challenging you: the manager would play a role to see how you would react to an aggressive/abrupt approach, how you would deal with a long silence on the other side, how you would reply to a totally random and irrelevant question etc) and final role play with 2 hiring managers and regional vice president.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Who are you going to call now to say you just got offered to job?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Gartner (Barcelona) in Apr 2019
Interview
The interview process was composed of five steps.
4 steps were interviews on the phone with recruiters, steps number 3 and 4 including a little sales role-play.
The final step was in person in the Barcelona office with the recruiter that was there since the beginning of the process, a manager and the VP of sales.
Overall, the process was very smooth and I was very well accompanied receiving constructive feedback (very helpful!) from the recruiter between each step.
They really want you to do well and give you all the info you need to succeed.
Special thanks to Roberta !
Interview questions [3]
Question 1
Describe a time when you showed integrity in your work.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Gartner (Egham, England)
Interview
4 rounds of interviews:
1. Initial phone call & Gartner Introduction
2. Phone call consisting of "Tell me a time when" questions
3. Continuation of stage 2 with more detail and a phone call role play
4. Assessment day with another role play
From my experience the recruitment process overall was excellent.
It was was well organised and they gave candidates tangible feedback on how to improve. The company is big on coaching and likes people who can take advise and continually develop.
If you have done sales before it should be challenging but not too difficult.
Also make sure you apply for other jobs simultaneously as I feel the company took me more seriously when they knew I was applying for multiple roles.
