I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Gartner (Houston, TX) in Mar 2020
Interview
I was contacted via recruiter through Linkedin - we had a short 30min screening call. He then set me up with a different recruiter where we had 2 one hour interviews (one a similar screen, the second a role play). After that, they said that I was "panel ready" to speak with one of the companies VP's which would be the last step in the process. I was then asked to attend a company webinar which was pretty much a "Why Gartner" hour call with various hiring managers. I was also asked to read a book that models "Gartners sales strategy" so that I would be prepared for the final interview.
From then I was contacted several times by the recruiter who would then forget to respond to my inquiries and never was able to provide any sort of internal communication for what was actually happening to the role I had invested significant amount of time in interviewing.
Initially, I was very excited about the opportunity and company alike. Now, after this disheartening experience. I would warn anyone to proceed with caution about the actual role being open/approved to hire if they liked you and wanted to move you though the process. My general take away is that Gartner is having their recruitment teams continue building their pipelines of candidates while there is officially no open requisitions given the current state of the coronavirus.
