The division I interviewed for was formerly the startup called Pulse which Gartner acquired. Interviewer/HM was EXTREMELY disrespectful. We were working through an LRU cache problem and instead of listening to me think through the problem out loud, he kept interrupting me and telling me where I was wrong, what I could do instead. And even lectured me on something he didn't know. He didn't understand that you can't call a non-static method from a static method in Java and refused to believe me. In the end, he told me something like "you should understand what static means". At this point, I already made up my mind not to join the company. However, at the end of the interview he seemed to be fishing on my eagerness to accept saying that he was between offering me and another candidate an offer and was gauging my willingness to accept. Not only did he give me confidential information of another candidate, he tried to egg me on to accepting. In this job market, it would be idiotic to not accept a job offer so I told him on the spot I would accept. The recruiter told me he'd work on getting an offer for sure by Tuesday, which was 4 days from then because I told him I had a competing offer that I had to extend to Tuesday at the latest. I ask the recruiter what is going on when I didn't get an offer on Tuesday and he says he doesn't know what is going on but they still intend to give me an offer. I extend my first offer by another 4 days. This made me nervous because the first company was already generous enough to give one extension. By Friday, they still had not gotten back to me. The recruiter says there's shady business going on behind the scenes and even he does not know whats was going on as he was ready to send me an offer. I see on my linkedin and over 5 people from Gartner had viewed my profile. So were they second guessing themselves? Why give me a verbal offer on the spot during the interview, afterwards in email and not follow through? In the end they ghosted me and I stopped reaching out to them, and I accepted the offer from the company which I am very happy at. I don't think I would have enjoyed Gartner. The recruiter and interviewer made it clear that it was a sweatshop and they were crunched on time. Not to mention the disrespectful HM. I pity anyone who has to work with that egotistical, narcisisstic mess. The HM told me they needed to hire someone fast because of some project deadline and they were in hot waters. Avoid at ALL costs. Extremely, shady, dirty tactics by a dirty HM.
