      Product Marketing Director Interview

      Mar 29, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Saint Paul, MN
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Glassdoor (Saint Paul, MN) in Feb 2022

      Interview

Very thorough process with 10+ interviews/calls in total and a 30 min presentation. First round screening with recruiter, second round with hiring manager, third round was a virtual on-site with several meetings over two days. Final round was a panel presentation. Everyone was warm, welcoming and informative, and I truly felt they were as invested as I was to ensure the right fit. Culture, mission and values highlighted throughout the process. Unfortunately, after all of the time and effort invested from the start through to the final round, I was not selected for the role. It was disappointing given the amount of time invested, however they were transparent about the process from the beginning, so I knew what to expect at each stage. I felt they cared about me as a person and appreciated the time and effort I put in through the process, despite the outcome.

First, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. As a marketing team, we try our best to remember the significant investment that candidates make through our hiring process. Director level hires are especially rigorous, as they carry a heavy load on the team but also with their partners across the organization. We look for directors to be experts in their field, culture carriers, and seasoned managers, and aim for a process where both Glassdoor and candidates have all the information needed to make the best choice for them. Sometimes, we just barely miss in the end. Thank you for exploring this role with us, wish you the best of luck in your next career chapter! - Eric Petitt, VP of Product Marketing

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Glassdoor (San Francisco, CA) in Dec 2019

      Interview

I was selected from my profile to start the interview process with a recruiter. The recruiter primarily focused on my last company, which likely was a misnomer in experience overall. When rejected, I got a form letter rejection. As a company that prides itself on values and people, its shocking that once again the candidate experience no matter the out come is negative.

      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Mill Valley, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied in-person. I interviewed at Glassdoor (Mill Valley, CA) in Aug 2017

      Interview

Glassdoor, let me start my saying that it is NOT cool if a candidate has to wait till Wednesday afternoon to know the outcome of a nearly full day of interviews completed on Friday. Especially when someone has invested as much work and love into the process as I did. I almost wish I hadn't interviewed because the process weakened the Glassdoor brand for me. My process involved: Phone round 1 followed by Phone round 2 followed by in-person round 1 followed by in-person round 2. And I suspect more rounds if I had cleared that one. The past Product Marketing leader had apparently set a bad precedent on many fronts. After I finished the process, it was clearer to me why they hadn't been able to close the role for over 4 months. The process had several kinks right from the recruiter-Glassdoor communication, to internal PM-PMM leadership dynamics, to the fit of the role within a very entrenched team culture. There were several inconsistencies in what I heard from individual team members and it seemed like a process to weed out, not include in. I urge Glassdoor to evaluate their own hiring process and do a better job of follow ups.
