The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Google (Mountainville, NY) in Aug 2010
Interview
After submitting a resume via the google job site, I was contacted by a recruiter who found a potential match given my experience.
After some emailing back and forth, I had a phone interview with a senior level product manager.
The phone interview consisted of some background on the position, and some discussion of my background. We went through the design of an arbitrary product, discussion how to get the product into a market and how to grow its business. We talked about other products in the space and feature sets that would need to be supported.
From there we discussed Google's business, talking about current threats and ways to handle them.
Over all it was a relaxed, pleasant conversation.
You would have to do a hiring assessment first, then a recruiter screening follows. First round interview with the hiring manager. Majorly product sense and product improvement. The questions were not direct though.
Overall a lot of steps to the interview process. Talked to different people and had opportunities to ask questions. Many different stages which made it a lengthy process overall. Wasn't too bad.
resume screening, a recruiter call, and technical or role-specific interviews. Candidates complete coding, system design, or behavioral rounds. Onsite or virtual panels assess problem-solving, communication, and leadership. Feedback goes to a hiring committee, followed by team matching and final offer discussions.
