I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Google (Mountain View, CA) in Jul 2016
Interview
A recruiter contacted me for product manager position. I have 10+ years technology experience, an MBA, and some entrepreneurial exposure.
Round 1 - Recruiter screen: Just basic background check for 15 minutes.
Round 2- 1 hour interview by a product manager.
Round 3- Onsite interviews. Total 3 (PM) + 1(Technical) + 1 (Director PM). Last two happen after lunch if first 3 interviewers provide positive reviews.
Round 4- Technical interview with a senior member of Google engineering
Round 5- Interview with a Director PM
After two weeks I heard from recruiter stating that my reviews were positive but they need one more 30 minute phone interview with senior PM. I did this one Ok. Wasn't much impressed with the interviewer. 4 strategy questions in 30 minutes without digging in depth into any. Highly unlike Google.
After that my profile was forwarded to hiring committee. HC rejected my candidacy. Recruiter said it was positive but could not make the cut. This was my fourth onsite interview at Google for various roles. I know it sucks!
Total time - 3 months.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Google (San Francisco, CA) in Jul 2016
Interview
I was contacted out of the blue by one of their "channel specialist" recruiters - basically people who try to find "passive" candidates. I'm not looking, but hey may as well talk to Google right?
We did a nice 30 minute call with a follow-on where she would try to find relevant positions within the Google. I was expecting more detailed questions, but it felt very much like they are just quickly doing triage on potential candidates.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Google (Mountain View, CA) in Mar 2014
Interview
I had a phone interview with the hiring manager. Then I got invitation to onsite interviewed. I talked to a junior product manager and a senior product managers. I thought the conversation went well. Then I was interviewed by an engineer. He asked me about a sorting question, which I didn't know how to answer at all. The last time I did any algorithm was 10 years ago.
