Rules of conducting Interview.
I personally have conducted over few dozen interview for senior positions for my team. First rule of interview is to ensure there is little or no interruptions during interview process. That means “Please turn off your phones” and “ Respect people’s time".
However, throughout my interview, the Google interviewer’s phone was constantly ringing, and the interviewer was on the phone with her family, the delivery service man and the maid during the interview process.
Close the interview.
Generally one should thank the candidate for his or her time and interest and also, indicate what the next step will be and the time frame within which it will occur.
However, the interviewer was in hurry to rush to the lift. She kept pressing the lift button over again and again.
I smiled back at her. Needless to say that act of pressing the lift button over again and again, would not change the speed of the lift.
The need to rush to lift and acting with impulse was as if the interviewer had seen some ghost.
As we "candidates" are being assessed for the position and cultural fit, the interviewer should know that he/ she represents THE organisation, and is being assessed too by the candidate.
I am no one to judge to reasons to answer the call in the middle of the interview or to rush to the lift and act with impulse.
I have no words to express my disappointment in Google Interviewer and their mannerism.
