I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Google (New York, NY) in Feb 2022
Interview
About 2 months long. Phone screen, with recruiter, 45 minute interview with PM, and the 5 virtual interviews. I was rejected by the Hiring Committee , ultimately. Recruiter did not give any feedback (no scores or hint of anything).
It is a long, time consuming process. I did a lot of prep and even took a few days off work to prepare. I don't regret it because it prepared me well for subsequent interviews.
The process was pretty smooth - though almost a month passed between my virtual "on site" interviews and rejection. The interviewers, for the most part, were very friendly and the questions fair. I thought the interviews went very well except for one. For that one, the interviewer was on a treadmill and her head was bouncing up and down, which I found distracting. I also had trouble understanding her. Debated asking her to stop exercising but in the moment, could not.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Read the prep guide they give you. I got no estimation questions so I wish I hadn't spent time estimating the weight of the empire state building, for example.
I had wonderful time interviewing at google for a Project Manager role. It was truly a challenging experience where I was rested on both technical and nontechnical challenges. I got asked about SAS and PIM protocols and how to manage people.
The interview was fun, as we were focused on the main topic at the same time had some other chats without being intense.
Although they didn't have me proceed to the next process, and I didn't know the reason, the conversation was a valuable experience.
