I had total of 4 virtual interviews focusing on DSA. Few interviewers were genuinely engaged in the interview and few just gave a question and stayed quiet for the whole time. It all depends on the luck.
I had 5 interviews in one day. During 4 interviews, I was asked basic algorithm questions and challenges to solve. And the fifth one was about work ethics. Each interview was approximatively 30 minutes and the interview staff was very friendly.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I was asked to write an efficient algorithm to solve a maze problem.
I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Google (Hyderabad) in Jul 2024
Interview
I recently interned at Google as a Software Engineer. The process to get there was intense but exciting.
Application Process
The application started with a pre-placement talk, followed by a resume-based shortlisting. Students from CSE, EE, and ECE branches with a CPI above 7 were eligible. I was shortlisted along with about 30 other students after an online assessment (OA).
Online Assessment
The online assessment included two questions: one medium-level question on trees and a harder one based on the sliding window technique. Both questions tested my understanding of data structures and algorithms. After this, we were notified of our results, and I was thrilled to be among the 30 selected students.
Interview Rounds
There were two interview rounds, both elimination-based, held online.
First Round: This was a 45-minute interview. I was asked a medium-level DSA question related to priority queues, followed by its time and space complexity analysis. I answered all questions successfully.
Second Round: This round was also 45 minutes. I was given a more challenging DSA problem. I explained the approach but couldn’t fully code the solution due to time constraints.
The interview process was a great learning experience, even though the results took more than a week to be announced. In the end, Google offered the internship to only 3 students. While I wasn’t one of them, I gained valuable insights and experience from the process.
