I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Google (Sydney) in Feb 2019
Interview
Initial screening questionnaire.
A "call" with a peer. The call turned out to be a video call which I was not prepared for. Berated by the peer for no video. Small coding test averaging some numbers. Code expected to compile or run.
Three on site interviews. Two with a peer and one with a manager. One peer was disrespectful and dismissive. The other two interviews with professional, personable and upbeat. Interview with manager was testing how you would behave under pressure.
Google process as always is pretty swift. Recruiters are very helpful, ask them a lot of questions if you are going for an interview. They are there to help you in each step. It took a week before I received a feedback after my "onsite" interview. All is well on my first technical interview but got so distracted on my onsite which I believe that caused my interview to fail. The questions are pretty generic if you are an admin. Study all the basics on how a VM/containers work, a Linux OS works, how a web works, python scripts. The questions are all average(not too hard, not too easy). also be precise on your troubleshooting skills. Soft skills are also very important on this role!!
