I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at H&M (Honolulu, HI) in Aug 2016
Interview
First I emailed my resume; they posted the job through craigslist.org. They called me about a week later did a quick 5 minute phone interview about 5 simple questions if they like your answers next step was an in person interview. My in person interview was with a department manager. If they like you and your answers they do a background check, they said it takes about a week to get the results. If you pass the background check they call you for a final interview.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How do you handle pressure? How do you feel about working at a face pace? Tell me a time when you had a difficult customer? Tell me a time you had to provide feedback to an employer or coworker? What would you do if the store wasn't busy? Tell me a time you didn't get along with a coworker? What would you do or say if a coworker wasn't working fast enough? What would you do if you and a coworker had different opinions on how to complete task?
The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at H&M in Aug 2016
Interview
H&M has an online application that you can submit to the location of your choice. You can choose to apply to multiple locations or just one. It will ask your availability, experience, and a small test to see how you think in some situations.
Before you apply, you need to know that you need open availability on weekends. If you don't have the open availability on the weekends I'm afraid they probably won't consider your application. Once I had that open weekends I applied and within about a week I was called to schedule a phone screening. Mine unfortunately was put off a day due to issues at the location I applied to but they apologized and scheduled it with me again. It was pretty long (about 30 minutes), asking more work experience and scenarios. I was also asked again about my availability and what I expect to be paid.
After the phone screening they scheduled an interview for the next week. I previously turned in a printed version of my application and resume. I think they liked that I was prepared to hand in my own copy. Some of the questions from the phone screening were asked again but this interview was mostly asking about my experiences about my previous work experience. I explained why I left previous jobs, my plans to leave my current job and explaining my role in the company and contributions. The interview was professional, yet casual. I was invited for yet another interview a few days later.
This interview felt more like tying up loose ends and reinforcing my availability and expectations from H&M. It was pretty quick but I wanted to talk to my partner about the offer they seemed to want to give me. They were fine with that and wanted me to come back the next day to finalize an offer.
I went in and after a clarification of my weekday hours, and they offered me a job at a higher rate than I even told them I wanted! I suspect this was because of my years of experience, combined with a promotion at my job that I would be leaving. I signed some paperwork and set a date for my training next week!
My advice is don't be afraid to negotiate. You're more likely to get what you want (or better) if you can justify your position. I had previous experience and a promotion on my resume which allowed me to get the weekday availability that I wanted and a higher wage. Just don't try to hardball them and say that you can be flexible (but definitely don't make promises you can't keep)!

How would you handle and upset/difficult customer?
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at H&M (Sheffield, England)
Interview
Applied online, got a response in two weeks. Group interview to start with and 20 people showed up. All staff were really friendly and made you feel like there was no hierarchy and chatted to you throughout the tasks, three tasks in total: timed you on how quick you put clothes back into right places, choose and outfit, and split into groups of 10 to discuss and report back on customer scenario's. Got called back for 1 on 1 interview, both were really friendly and understood I was super nervous, call back in 4 days with a job offer!
