I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Hopper in Mar 2024
Interview
The hiring manager and the team at Hopper are looking for individuals to validate the solutions they are brainstorming as a business—not to hire anyone. The hiring manager mentioned 4-5 really positive things on the call and said that she felt that she was right there in person. She also mentioned that I have great product intuition, along with mentioning that the prioritized solution is what the team also brainstormed "last week."
Then, 1 hour after the interview, I received a rejection email. I reached out to find out why I wasn't moving forward, but the team didn't care to respond.
This process is a joke. They also mentioned $ $100 of carrot cash for going through the screening round, but that's all a lie. They just waste the interviewee's time; they don't value the interviewee

Question 1
Product Sense - very hopper-specific problem they are trying to solve
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Hopper in Feb 2024
Interview
The company’s pitch is “We started as the app for millennials and gen-z. Now we are so much more!” It's already a bad sign when their corporate pitch generalizes based on age/generation. Plus they were not transparent on salary — did not directly provide a range; just a minimum. They are ignorant or evading salary disclosure laws.
Interview with hiring manager was crappy. They went straight into “How would you solve our problem?”. Not even a normal ice-breaker with self-introductions. It was just immediately “Here's our problem. Now you solve it for me.” They didn’t even bother to hide the fact that they are FARMING candidates for free ideas and free work. Finally, their style very cold, arrogant, and mean. I just recently saw BEEF on Netflix. This interviewer acted exactly like the main character. If that's the kind of person that I will be working for, then NO THANK YOU.

Question 1
What would you ask your colleagues on day 1 to help solve this problem? Assume that nothing has been built at all.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Hopper in May 2023
Interview
They gave you an assignment asking you to improve its product features, and it was so tricky as they seemed to gather free ideas from candidates. I don't know about other positions, but do not do any free work for these people.
