I was referred internally. I went through at least 5 phone screenings and 3 different technical interviews (2 take home Python assignments, 1 paired programming Python/SQL via HackerRank) before I was selected for an onsite interview that involved 2 more technical interviews and 3 behavioral interviews. It was very long - all day - and grueling. Almost everyone (one guy who did one of the technical interviews was a little on the smug side) was very nice and welcoming. In the end I was passed over for a reason that, if it was the real reason, should've been screened in either the first phone interview or the initial technical screening. Indeed - you are a great company but you aren't Google. No one is so desperate to work there that they deserve to have so much time sunk into an excessively arduous interview process (including taking time off work for an all day onsite) only to be rejected for reasons you can easily wean in the application. Please rethink your process, the best talent especially in a city like Austin can get much better job offers for a lot less work.
