I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Intel Corporation (Portland, OR) in Jul 2012
Interview
I got a telephonic interview through an employee referral. Telephonic interview had no questions regarding my resume. I was given a brief description of the job summary and then there was a case study with an actual problem at the company. The telephonic was for about an hour and 10 minutes. Call for an onsite within the next two weeks on a Friday. Met with the person I talked to on the telephone. He told about the structure of the company. Then was continued by my presentation for about 45 minutes and there were questions based on that. Had four one on one in the cafeteria area (2 in the morning and then 2hour lunch and then 2 in the afternoon out of which 2 were area managers and 2 were engineering leaders). Most of the questions were technical and from your resume but in detail. Also a bunch of behavioral questions such as why intel, what is a sticky situation you had with your prof, and how did you solve it? what is a situation with coworker, and how did you solve it? What are your part-time activities, etc. If you have an onsite PREPARE for the behavioral questions and also in detail about everything you have in your resume. The lunch was with two engineers. They asked questions through out the lunch (almost about hour and a half) and trust me, they are also judging you as well. Also, the last interview was with a area manager who asked a question, well, a case study for about hour and 15 mins. An actual problem at the company and it had all the things that I worked on. So look out for what you have in your resume. Might not be a direct question..

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Intel Corporation (Rio Rancho, NM) in Apr 2011
Interview
started off with phone interview- was asked basic semiconductor physics question- basic mosfet qs and some even as trivial as ohms law. heard nothing for the next 4 weeks and then got an email asking me to appear fo onsite interview
the onsite interview lasted full day which started with thesis ppt reviewed by my prospective manager and couple of other people. This was followed by 7-8 rounds of one on one with factory managers and other senior engineers. The questions were mostly basic mosfet and diode qs. there were a few behavioral as well - mostly these guys look for someone able to perform under tough situation and not give in to pressure. Need not answer all qs in first attempt- they will give you hints to help you and want to see if you can latch on to those!!!!
overall the interview process was done in a friendly manner and even took us out to lunch with some folks to calm our nerves!!!
