I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Lam Research (Tualatin, OR) in Mar 2014
Interview
Initial phone screen with HR rep, then a half day interview on site. Interviewed by the hiring manager and a few of the software engineers. I had plenty of opportunities to ask questions. I got the impression it was a very high pressure, high stress job. I didn't get an offer; they said they decided to recruit recent college grads instead. (I had almost 20 years experience at the time.)
The interview was on-site. It was four rounds, tough, asked all types of questions. They were extremely nice. Coding, System Design, Behavioral, and situational. Started with questions about current work, project, then went on to coding round, (write a function in the existing codebase that calls an external api and gets the response)

The interview process typically involves several stages designed to assess a candidate's qualifications, experience, and fit for a particular role or opportunity. The process begins with a review of the candidate's resume, cover letter, and any other submitted materials to determine if they meet the basic requirements for the position.
