I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement (West Chester, OH)
Interview
I applied online and got a call a couple days later. Came in and got interviews by someone in HR. After that, one of the managers interviewed me and basically asked the same type of questions. Overall it took about an hour, they said they would give me a call in about a week, but instead I got a call in two days.

Question 1

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement
Interview
Took a couple weeks from day of applying to actual face to face interview. First interview was pretty straight forward second was meeting with HR and Service Manager and answering some what-if and how-did-you kind of questions. Next was the swab drug test and waiting for the security clearance which was a non-issue and was returned in a day, at least in my case. Personally the hiring process and questions don't seem to fit the reality of the positions and you would think you were applying for a highly technical or high paying position. The weakest link I see is that there are too many lazy, just wanna get a paycheck type of workers and it makes things difficult for those who are serious and hard working especially since they end up picking up the slack.

Question 1
Too many "How did you handle (insert a negative situation you were involved in) and how did you handle it. Most of the verbal questions in my opinion does nothing to weed out a bad worker. It is way too easy to create make believe scenarios and make yourself look good. There is a 3 month probation period or "Review" period as they like to call it but they still don't weed out the lazy workers. I chalk most of it to the low salary and high expectations which many times are not realistic. Low wages equals low quality employees overall if work ethics are not monitored and action taken good or bad.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement in Mar 2011
Interview
Interview is first with the HR Director, and then with the Store Manager if they are free. They usually call within a day or two if they want to hire you.
