I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement (Lawton, OK) in Jul 2015
Interview
I applied online and was called the very next morning for an interview. The process was comfortable and the questions asked were designed to get the maximum amount of information about the my experience and skills without feeling interrogated. I was told I would receive a call within 5 days to let me know if I needed to come in for the drug test or didn't get the job. I was called the very next day to come in for drug test by that Friday and to ask me if I would accept the job. I went in for the drug test and filled out some paperwork and was told I would be called with the start date. I was called that Monday and given the date to start. Very professional and one of the best interview I have had.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What do I, as an employee, bring to their company. How do I handle high levels of stress. How many years customer service I have had. Would I be interested in moving up in the company, as they try to hire internally first with any opening. Was I interested in medical benefits as well as other benefits. Did I have a problem with taking a drug test

Interview
Lowe's uses AI to schedule interviews currently. I was asked questions by their automated recruiter, one of which being "are you able to work Saturdays and Sundays?" I said no. I am unavailable during those times. This was supposed to be a part time job during the week while I job hunted. Aside from me saying no weekends. They still invited me to an interview in less than five minutes. Didn't even upload my resume or do any assessments. First scheduled interview got rescheduled and my time changed from morning to afternoon. I get there and I have no idea who I am supposed to see. There are no cashiers on front end, aside from returns.
I find out I am supposed to be at the training room, all the way at the back of the store. Literally it was hard to find. I walk in and say I am here for an interview. They tell me to fill out a piece of paper with my availability again. Wrote down Monday - Friday, Morning and Afternoon shifts. Not even sure what the shift times are.
The person in charge of hiring took one look at it, and said she needed weekend availability. Didn't even offer to sit down and discuss any options or my skills. Yet Lowe's loves to advertise flexible schedules. I said no worries and left the store. Shortest interview of my life. She made some comment about my schedule too. It is not hard to schedule someone part time during the week, for morning shifts. Especially when I see plenty of staff walking around. Not everyone on the planet is available to work on the weekends. If you are going to advertise flexible schedules when hiring, do not complain when applicants, especially part time ones come in with flexible scheduling. Never applying to Lowe's again. Absolutely ridiculous. Waste of a 20 min drive.
Came in for an interview with HR. She asked 2 questions.... Tell me how you would deal with a rude customer, and what would you do if you saw a customer stealing. I got hired on the spot

Interview
It was an easy process as long you gave them your resume when you applied for the job. I was not expecting to get the job on the spot and start to work on the next couple days. It was one-on-one interview, and then the next step was to attend the orientation.
