I applied online. I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement
Interview
Took about two weeks. One or two interviews. Questions based on previous accomplishments. "Highlight a time when you had to deal with an aggressive customer. How did you deal with the situation?" "When was a time you had to deal with a situation you were unfamiliar with? How did you handle it?"
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Lowe's Home Improvement in Sep 2010
Interview
I interviewed with a regular department manager and then was sent over to talk with the store manager. The department managers were very friendly and professional people, that all seemed to come from the Fort Wayne, IN area. After the initial interview type questions, we simply spoke of their time here in South Bend, IN, and how exciting it was to be part of a new stores beginning. Then when the store manager was done with his previous interview, I was then passed over to his table so that he could speak with me regarding his expectations for the employees and the store.

Question 1
I was very surprised by how in sync I was with the store manager about the philosophy about customer service. We both agreed that being cordial and friendly to people was a state of mind, and that customer service is good for the soul. Working daily in a job where you are paid to be nice and helpful to people definitely translates/spills over into the rest of your daily life/demeanor.

Interview
First, I had to read a few pages about the job description and things I will have to learn, and then sign. They then called me into the office for the interview. There were two managers, one was the human resources manager. They asked me a little bit about myself, asked me about my availability, and started "scenario" process. They asked me what I would do in 7 different scenarios. Lastly, I asked the question, "What achievements and actions would equate to success in this position? What sets an employee apart as successful?" They told me that was an excellent question, and they were thrilled I would ask something like that.

Question 1
No difficult questions... Just these:
Recall a time when you got interrupted from a job. How did you handle it?
Explain a time when you went above and beyond to help a customer.
Name a time when you promised a customer something but couldn't deliver. How did you handle the situation?
Tell us about a time when you had a difficult customer.
There were two more, but I can't remember.
