I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Macy's (Miami, FL) in Jun 2012
Interview
Macy's had a career event, where selected applicants are invited to a conference room, while I was there they describe all their different management / supervisory positions. The purpose of the event was to meet upper management (build network) and see where you possibly could fit into their organization. The event lasted about 2 hours. At this particular event there was 10 applicants and 8 to 10 Macy's Associates. After the event they'll decide to invite (or not) to their 1st interview. I received a call 2 days after the event to interview for an open position. This interview was a 1:1 interview with an Assistant Store Manager. During the interview the Manager was very polite and professional. She ask the typical interview questions, but she seem very sincere about the position and its challenge. She explained the obstacle she faced in her position, while also describing the benefits. The interview last about an hour. After the interview, I received a call from their HR Manager to interview with another upper Manager. This 2nd interview was similar to the 1st on, all very professional and sincere. I was further recommended to next Manager; in final I have met with 5 people throughout this process. My advice to applicants are: be patient because it will be a long process, be professional and enthuse throughout the process, dress in a business suit to all events and interviews, and follow up with them to ensure you are still on their mind.
