I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Macy's (Buford, GA) in Jun 2010
Interview
First of all, it took almost a week once I was notified they wanted to interview me to schedule interview. it is done all online.
My interview was on a Saturday. Boy, did I surprise HR when I arrived. As far as they were concerned, they do not do interviews on Saturday. Luckily, I had my phone with me so I could show the gal the confirmation email. She then pulls it up online and sees there are 2 interviews scheduled. I had to wait 45 minutes while they tried to find someone to interview me. I ended up interviewing with a person whose English wasn't the greatest. The only position they had available for part-time was "on call." Great. I was also informed that this job had to be open internally for 7 days before they could offer it to an outside applicant. Then why bother interviewing now. She said I was an excellent candidate so we shall see if I get a call back. I have a job so this was just to earn some extra money so no biggee if I don't get hired.
I just felt the interview was rushed... which is understandable since they were not expecting any applicants but, at the same time, at least make an effort to conduct an interview. My guess is the person that interviewed me doesn't interview all the time. All in all, I was disappointed in the process.
The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Macy's (Sacramento, CA) in Apr 2010
Interview
I applied online and got an automated e-mail with a link to their website, asking me to schedule a time to be interviewed. I had a choice between 3 times, each a half hour apart, all on the same day. I was told to wait in a room with several other candidates, some of whom had been waiting for over half an hour. I thought at this point that it would be a group interview, but it wasn't. My interview was conducted while walking around the store. I was asked about previous experience, and about the state of the store as we moved through it. I thought it went very well and the manager talked about a position opening soon, and made it sound like she was offering me the position. However, a few days later, I got yet another automated e-mail from HR, saying they had no open positions for me.

When cleaning up this area, where would you start? (messy clothing rack with items fallen on the floor)
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Macy's (Wheaton, MD) in May 2010
Interview
This was my first job interview, I was very nervous, the people seemed like snobs. The Manager, and the first girl who interviewed me, however were very nice. The first girl that interviewed me asked me about my job history, and just basic questions. I waited a while, and I was interviewed by the manager where she asked me more job history questions, availability, to describe a time i was a leader, she asked me to sale her a suit, and other things like that. But- i didn't get the job. Another Macy's wants to interview me though, I doubt i'll take that... they're pretty snobby.
