I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Meta
Interview
Long-winded, cancellations at the last minute, not enough information given by some of the HR people involved.
Overall the interview process is a mess, a red flag to anyone going in with a role of having to manage and grow teams.
The process took 11 months. I interviewed at Meta (Singapur) in Jan 2021
Interview
I was contacted by Facebook recruiter via Linkedin. After few discussions about skills and roles, I had a 30 minute call with one of their directors. Afterwards there was silence for several months. It seems the role was no longer relevant. After few months the same recruiter contacted me with a new role. Again a 30 minute call with a senior guy. It seems I passed that and the actual interview process started. There were 6 calls of 45 minutes each. Each of them covered a different area (e.g. design, coding, project retrospective). After completing all 6 rounds, I was told to wait for few weeks to get final result. That result never came. I followed up with the recruiting team and came to know that the responsible recruiter left. Another person was requested to provide the feedback to me. Even after asking the person again after a week, I have never received the result. This is quite unprofessional and inappropriate after spending hours in the process, which overall spread over almost 1 year.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Even though the interview was for a senior engineering manager role, the interviews were very technical. There were 2 rounds of design interviews with questions on how to design an access control system for Facebook and how to design a system which can store Wikipedia on a distributed set of mobile devices. During the coding session I had to solve a binary tree search problem. Sessions around projects and management style asked about experience with certain situations and how to solve them.
The process was professional, but there were lengthy gaps between stages, very likely due to COVID. Due to those delays other opportunities had presented themselves and I withdrew from the process.
