I applied online. I interviewed at Microsoft (San Juan, PR) in Aug 2013
Interview
10 interviews focusing mostly on soft-skills and management potential. This was not a typical software development/engineering interview as this was more focused on a business position. Interviews for those type of positions are way harder.

Question 1

I applied through college or university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Microsoft
Interview
5-7 people will interview you with each one writing a summary for all to rate. You will be grilled on technology knowledge and mostly attitude and behavior. You have to show an engaged mind willing to share information and ask questions. The attitude is 'many can do that job, but are you the right fit and what is something extra you bring to a role".
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Microsoft (Redmond, WA) in Apr 2010
Interview
There are usually 4 1-hour interviews for each interview loop. Internal candidates can request an "informational" 30-minute meeting with the hiring manager to decide if they want to apply. The interview loops are hard to schedule due to crazy calendars of the interviewers. They try to get external candidates in on the same day but internal candidates are sometimes spread across multiple days of interviews.
The hiring manager is supposed to reach out to the people to offer the job or explain why they didn't get it. I've found that they rarely call when you don't get it. If you do get the job, it takes 1-2 weeks to process everything before you can accept an official start date in the new role.
