I applied in-person. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Microsoft (Redmond, WV) in Mar 2017
Interview
The process was very professional, after the first round of interviews over the phone they scheduled in person interviews, arranged for air travel, hotel, etc and had a whole day of interviews lined up. There was a lot of communication and coordination . During the interviews , it stemmed they were not expecting me , some people showed up late some just did not show up. The follow up was even worst not even a thank you email. Advice is to make sure you can follow up directly with them
The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Microsoft
Interview
The recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn and it seems she did read my profile, as the job offer was a particularly good match. Although I am not actively looking, I then submitted my CV to her.
Up until that point, there was good communication.
As soon as I submitted my CV, she stopped . She neither acknowledged that I sent it to her, nor reacted in any form to my follow up 10 days later, when I asked her if she did get it (on LinkedIn! Nothing goes missing there) and if she needs anything else.
This has been by far the most unprofessional and rude treatment I have ever encountered in business life! This behavior would not be acceptable under any circumstances, much less if she is the one who contacted me.
Train your recruiters to act with a minimal standard of common courtesy. Professional manners would have required at minimum an acknowledgment of the CV. For a good impression, even some feedback about the CV in relation to the job opening should be provided - and if you think it is not a good fit after all, pick up the phone and have a conversation! I will not consider MS as a employer going forward or recommend it to anyone in my network.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Microsoft (São Paulo, ) in Feb 2012
