I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Microsoft in Apr 2021
Interview
I initially had a phone interview for a Sr. Corporate Recruiting role for which I was really excited. I had even moved to the second round and talked with the hiring manager. A few days later, the recruiter called and told me that I wasn't being hired for that role but I could interview for a less Tech role. I agreed because I am relocating and need a job and I felt that perhaps I could move up. But to be honest, I wasn't really all the happy about a Tech role especially since I interviewed for a Sr role. The recruiter/coordinator sent over and confirmed the interview and interview team. However, although I had prepped, there was no real alignment between what I was told and what ended up happening. In the first round, I had to do a hard skills assessment, essentially remote into my recruiter's computer, edit a job posting, conduct a LinkedIn search (including Boolean) and build a pipeline. Nothing wrong with that but the computer (the recruiter's) kept messing up. Also, I haven't done boolean in a while and hoped we would talk about my skills related to this as I could have expanded and explained. The recruiter wasn't even all that friendly. I had it to the final rounds but eventually was told I wasn't going to be made an offer. Mind you that the recruiter didn't bother to call, just send some generic email through the source instead. Very impersonal!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about a time you worked on a team that wasn't performing.
Interview process went smoothly... no issues except for it being rescheduled last minute but not big deal since things happen. It was quick. Found out the outcome a few days later.
