A recruiter reached out to me a couple times and we scheduled a 30 minute call. They did a great job of talking up the role, so I was really looking forward to the next round of interviews.
The next round was a 45 min interview with the hiring manager, and I had a very confusing experience with them. At one point they asked a question about how I would solve an issue they were currently facing that had nothing to do with the role I was interviewing for. It seemed like the hiring manager really liked my answer, but I did not feel good about the situation. It seemed like he was seeking solutions for another role rather than trying to gauge my skills. The hiring manager then also said something negative about the people I currently work with.
Initially I thought the compensation and role were exciting, but after the second interview I felt that the leadership of the hiring manager was questionable, and leadership is something that is very important to me. I’m also disappointed that I have still received no feedback after reaching out to the recruiter multiple times.
