I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Northrop Grumman (Los Angeles, CA) in May 2016
Interview
I was contacted by phone initially to schedule a phone interview and to briefly discuss my qualifications. During the follow-up phone conversation, I was asked about my work experience and what sort of environment I'm used to working in. They then scheduled me for a technical phone interview to further vet my qualifications.
During the technical interview, I was asked in detail about projects I had previously worked on. I was asked about the technical decisions I made during those projects and what I would have done differently looking back on it. There were no quiz like questions, just queries about my experience with different modeling methods.
Ultimately I wasn't selected, but everyone I was in contact with during the process was a pleasure to work with and talk to. I never felt like I was being interrogated but instead felt like I was having a casual academic conversation with colleagues.
