I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Nuance (Chicago, IL) in Jun 2012
Interview
No interview. Our institution dumped our department to save money and we were given choice to be brought in by Nuance (though we had heard bad things about this company).
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
None...we were absorbed by Nuance. We were told that the voice recognition software recognized ends of sentences, etc., but it does not.
I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at Nuance (Pune) in Aug 2014
Interview
There were 5 rounds.
1. Coding test to testing your problem solving approach, what quality code you can write along with unit tests.
2. Assignment for home. Usually, this is for the senior level developers. You need to design and develop an UI based application which was further reviewed by the architecture and on bases of that you evaluated for next round.
3. Technical round. Mostly java, javascript, spring related questions.
4. Director round.
5. HR round.
Interview process required one phone screening and in person interview with 5 people which lasted nearly 5 hours in total. Interview also required preparing a case study which was used in the presentation portion of the interview. Interview consisted of both 1X1 interviews as well as a group interview session (case study presentation) which lasted a little under an hour. Interviewees were very respectful and asked appropriate and thorough questions.
