The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Oracle in Dec 2007
Interview
Note: the interview took place in December 2005 (this is the most recent job interview I've had), which was not an option in the drop down.
Interview consisted of two phone interviews and a short essay on how I viewed the role. The first phone interview was a fairly normal set of questions about experience, reactions to certain situations, how you might handle dealing with VPs and executives who are having computer issues: that is, it ultimately mainly focused on soft skills.
The second phone interview was on purely technical issues. Questions about DOS (yep), Windows, Linux, PC architecture, and networking. I was told as we progressed how I was doing (that is, if my answers to the questions were right or wrong), which was valuable feedback.
The short essay I was asked to submit was partly because some writing ability was considered part of the role, so this was a sort of rite to make sure I could string sentences together, and also to see what I thought the role of Systems Analyst (help desk) did and should consist of.
