I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Panasonic (Atlanta, GA) in Jan 2011
Interview
Initial interview was a phone screen. It lasted about 20 minutes. The HR Generalist was describing the position and the requirements. My interest in the position garnered me to another phone with the HR Manager. The HR manager was concerned that the gap in my salary history and salary for the postion was too far. She was very honest in stating that her concern would be that I would not give full committment to the position. She stated that she would keep my information on file in the event a position comes open that has a salary close to my salary history. Note I said history and not expectation.

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Panasonic (Lake Forest, CA) in Oct 2010
Interview
Interview was fairly simple, with questions on my past project experience , and some questions in programming languages, The interview also had some questions on tackling various scenarios that a person may encounter during the course of work.
This was not a permanent position so the hiring manager did not exhaustively ask technical questions.
