      Software Engineer I Interview

      Dec 1, 2011
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at RTX in Nov 2011

      Interview

I was interviewing for full time, not internship. Got invited to 2 day college hiring event after having on-campus interview (simple behavioral/resume stuff). First day is largely a waste of time except for the free food (dinner is AMAZING, open bar reception etc etc). The dress code is a bit over the top in my opinion (suit + tie required for a lot of the events). Plant tour is a lot of walking...not much interesting...cubicle city in the middle of the desert. Second day is interviews. MASSIVE amount of interviews going on simultaneously (20+)...not an intimate setting at all. 2 department managers and 1 HR rep at the table (who looked bored) . I got the feeling through the whole process that they know whether they want you or not before you even start talking...so I didn't need to do a whole lot of "selling myself". My interview only lasted 25 minutes (formal interview questions like teamwork, previous projects, etc etc) then I spent 20 minutes talking about the company with them and asking questions. Got email same night saying they were making offer. Formal call 3 days later. 10 calendar days to accept/decline. No technical questions were asked. They want to see how well you can problem solve (engineering...obviously) and work with others. Everyone was polite. Very well organized event. Out of ~100 people at the event about 50% got offers (full time / intern combined).
