I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at RTX (San Diego, CA) in Mar 2015
Interview
Interview was conducted by phone by the hiring manager. Questions were very thorough and relevant to the position. The questions were followed by a more detailed explanation of the position. It was during this final stage that it occurred to me that they would make an offer. Interview lasted about 50 minutes.

I applied through college or university. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at RTX (Tucson, AZ) in Feb 2013

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at RTX (Denver, CO) in Nov 2012
Interview
First, a colleague from a previous job submitted my resume to both the project management and hiring manger. They called to schedule an interview which turned to be was just a phone interview. I was relaxed and the hiring manger was impressed and offered me a position at the end of the interview. I'm not sure if it was my application online or my colleague that got me the job interview and ultimately the job.
