I applied online and received shortly a very casual and informal message from a Senior Recruiter in Boston stating that the hiring manager had reviewed my profile and found it interesting so that's why he was reaching out to me to schedule a call to discuss the opportunity. He asked for my availability and I replied on the same day and the interview was scheduled.
The day of the interview, I received the same ''Hey __ message'' from the same HR recruiter a few minutes prior to the time scheduled stating that he was going to be late for the interview as he ''had to show something to his hiring managers and only had a small window''.
I replied, no problem take your time and feel free to reach out to me when you are ready.
Although the initial email was rather positive, the call started late with a rather negative note stating that they would prefer to recruit candidates who were referred by internal SAP employees and who had specific experience selling a specific type of solutions.
Although they publicly accept online applications and review them prior to scheduling interviews, he asked if I had someone working inside SAP who would have refer me. Although I mentioned that I knew at least 2 people currently working there, the final tone of the quick call was that he would not waste his time doing the interview as planned because he seems to have realized I was not a good fit for the role. Call ended without any apology for the misunderstanding.
