I have been working in the company for a long time. My interview with this company was back to mid-90's when SAP was still a little known company in the U.S. I was referred by a friend who was working there. Their recruiter called me and flew me into bay area for the interview.
I was interviewed by the hiring manager and the general manager of the development organization. The interview process was very simple at that time. Just explaining what I did before and then asked me to explained some coding. Then, 2 weeks later, I got the call from the recruiter and I was hired.
I think now, the HR department has installed a more complex and long interview process for candidates. I have heard some teams were asking the candidate to do some "homework" before the interview and then brought to the interview.
For me, back then, it was much easier.
