I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at SAP (Bengaluru) in Mar 2012
Interview
Senior information developers made a presentation to the college where I was studying, post-which they invited us to send in our resumes.
Three weeks later, I received a call to appear for an interview with a senior information developer and a Knowledge manager. There was also a video interview with a manager from Germany, as the role involved working across locations.
The same day, there was also a written test on English proficiency and Technical Writing: questions on grammar, technical standards etc. We also write technical documentation based on screenshots provided in the test.
I received confirmation that I was selected after a week or so.

Writers are required to do a writing test, which can be tricky. You have to ace it in order to get hired as the test can only be done once a year. The key is to be familiar with the rules of technical writing and organize information concisely.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at SAP (Bengaluru)
Interview
Structured and organized interview.
I was called in to the office for a brief one-on-one, after which I was asked to take up a written test. The test checks your language, grammar, vocabulary, and so on. It was a essay-type questionnaire with a few objective-type questions. They checked the answers and had the final round on the same day. It was quick and hassle free. The HR round was on another day.
