      Program Architect Interview

      Aug 16, 2016
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Salesforce (New York, NY) in Aug 2016

      Interview

I was contacted by an internal recruiter at Salesforce via Linkedin. Had several brief phone conversations and was passed on to another recruiter for another brief phone conversation. Breezed through two Skype interviews on 'Technology' and 'Consulting Skills'. Last step was a panel presentation "to demonstrate executive presence". Here is where they really embarrassed themselves. I showed up at the salesforce office 10 minutes early, only to have the interview start 10 minutes late. One guy did most of the talking/questioning, the other had his nose stuck in his laptop the entire time. When laptop guy was called on to comment/participate he would ask some question about a topic that I had just spent a few minutes talking about (clearly not paying attention or using his laptop to take notes). Entire process very rushed and distracted. Had less than 10 minutes to present a 20-25 minute 'executive presentation' (no problem). Or at least that is what I was told was the point of the exercise. At the end of the 'C-Level presentation' laptop guy shakes his head and said he wanted to see technical diagrams and specs and low level tech detail. I don't know of too many C-Level execs that would willingly sit through a presentation at that level (none of the ones that I have presented to over the years, anyway). I got to ask one question then I was rushed out of the room so they could move on to their next interviewee. The whole process was embarrassingly unprofessional, haphazard and, frankly, a waste of my time. I got a call a few days later that they 'were going in a different direction' and that direction didn't include me. I asked for specific feedback (a learning moment, right?) and the caller just mumbled that he didn't know details but it was 'something' about the presentation. Certainly doesn't feel like a world class operation.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. It's disappointing that you had a negative experience with the interview process. I can understand your frustration given the circumstances. I believe your initial recruiter has since followed up with you directly, and our recruiting leadership team has contacted the interviewers to ensure we can learn from your feedback and improve for the future. I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to both interview and to share your experience with us, and wish you best of luck with your job search. Ana Recio SVP, Global Recruiting

      Application

      Interview

This was the second time i went through the proces and I have to say, this is a very inefficiënt proces. The first round is a first check by the recruiter. The second and third round was a consulting interview and the fourth round is the panel interview. Oh yeah and if your lucky you would also have a fifth round.. it took about 1,5 month. What i don’t like about the proces, is the inconsistency, and no transparancy. E.g. If they would like you to succeed in the proces, they will assign you someone from the team who would walk you through the expectations of the panel interview. In my case it didn’t happen. Even after a request by mail. “ no answer” from the hiring manager or recruiter and no explanation why in my case it was not possible. If you have a good round you will have a immediately a call back from the recruiter. If you have a bad round, they will threat you like garbage (You will hear nothing anymore) Not living up to the values they pretend to maintain.

I applied online. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at Salesforce (Tel Aviv-Yafo) in Nov 2021

      Interview

The process took several months (due to holidays and lockdowns). I interviewed online and at Salesforce offices. All usual steps: HR screening , then 1:1 tech, another tech talk with soft skills, manager interview and panel session with case presentation (can be online or on-site - I suggest on doing it in person for better communication and feedback). I cannot tell that things were hard. At some point it was not clear what exactly is expected, but there were no "tricky" questions or something not work related. I got assistance and guidance from recruiting team. Everything was friendly and polite.
