TAS has a very difficult and rigorous process. It only recruits from the IIMs and to management institutes in India and It starts with a lengthy aplication which includes 20 odd questions which require essay type answers. Then the applications are sorted and candidates are picked for the "Chairman Group Discussion". This is a specifc type of a group discussion where every candidate has to lead a group discussion by donning a role of a CEO or a leader. After this the best candidates are shortlisted and go on to the panel interview. This is usually a highly stressful interview with the candidates being asked tough questions. This is usually to test if the candidate has firm views and can support opinions with facts. There is also a senior HR head to test on behavioural skills to ensure that the candidate fits in the Tata culture. After this, there is a mandatory psychometric test which gauges the leadership skills of the candidate. Since the process only occurs at the top Business schools in India, each candidate also has to present their summer projects. These presentations also have a panel of senior leaders within the Tata Group criticizing the project and asking tough questions. Candidates have to be extremely confident of tehir work and recommendations to be successful in these presentations. A cumulative weighted score of all these steps are used to pick the final successful candidates.
