      Human Resources Business Partner Interview

      Jan 5, 2026
      Anonymous employee
      Fremont, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I interviewed at Tesla (Fremont, CA)

      Interview

Tesla has a fairly typical interview process. Met with the recruiter, scheduled dates and times with the recruiting coordinator and met with members of the HR Partner team and members of the cross functional team in person. Entire process took about 4 to 5 weeks.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They asked for clear examples regarding employee relations issues, how you build relationships with leaders and HR projects you have worked on.

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Tesla

      Interview

Recruiter reached out to me via LinkedIn. We had a phone interview and the recruiter scheduled the interview w/hiring manager right away. I do not know yet if I will be moving forward in the process but wanted to write a review prior to knowing. The hiring manager was rude! She called late and then fired off question after question and did not appear to be actively listening. I could hear someone playing a piano in the background. She did not answer the questions I had about the position. At the end, I thanked her for her time and she did not thank me for mine. Not a good sign when you interview with a HR leader and the experience is negative.

      Question 1

Why did you apply at Tesla? (I didn't actually apply)

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Tesla

      Interview

I was contacted through LinkedIn about an opportunity to join Tesla's HR department as they were revamping their HR department. After a "no call, no show" for my second phone interview, I sent the recruiter an email to let them know and I received no response them nor an apology. Very unprofessional behavior, says a lot about the level of professionalism at this company as well.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Most of the questions were not behavioral based. Moreso along the lines of "tell me about your experiences" "do you have experiences with XYZ", etc.
