      Merchandise Execution Manager, MEM Interview

      Sep 26, 2013
      Anonymous employee
      Des Moines, IA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Des Moines, IA) in Sep 2013

      Interview

I submitted my resume and cover letter using the company's web based application form. I was called a few days later to schedule the first interview a week out. Since I already work for The Home Depot I was familiar with their standard two person interview process with one asking the questions and the other taking notes. Most of the questions are open ended and are best answered with a "story" where you relate how you identified and solved the problem . After the standard questions it's your turn to ask questions and further qualify if this is a good fit for you.

      Question 1

None of the questions were all that difficult. Remembering to include specific tangible results for each story was sometimes a challenge. "How did you manage a task or project where you were given few instructions?" I answered with a story about setting a display in a different fashion than had previously been done. The result was a much cleaner looking display with out big shelving units allowing the merchandise to be moved around easier as it sold through.
