I interviewed at The Home Depot (Grand Island, NE) in May 2010
Interview
I submitted a resume directly to the store five years ago and was instructed to fill out an application online. After being contacted by phone, I interviewed at the store. I was offered a full time sales position and was promoted to department supervisor within three months.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Most questions were standard. "Tell me about a time when" type of questions. They want a feel for your customer service skills and team mentality more so than your experience or knowledge of the product mix offered. In fact, I had witnessed new hires that had extensive experience with a certain category such as paint or flooring get placed in other departments for no real reason other than it was easier than moving people around.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at The Home Depot (White Lake, MI) in Mar 2014
Interview
It was an interview with two managers, both were somewhat young. Both managers sat across from me and asked situational, role playing questions. Did not discuss my background at all.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
They did mostly role-playing and scenarios. Odd things that really do not occur in real life.
One situation was: If a cashier who was pregnant had a long line, but it was time for her break and nobody was available except for one person who was assisting a customer, what would you do?
