Interview was scheduled via phone. Arrived at store and met with assistant manager. Interview was about 10 minutes. 6 structured questions and a few unstructured.
I applied online. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at The Home Depot (North Atlanta, GA) in Mar 2014
Interview
Applied online via the Home Depot Career Portal, then was asked to take a series of online evaluations pertaining to customer service-type situations and general product knowledge.
Received an email about one week later asking that I call a toll-free number to answer questions. I called and spoke to someone who asked me a few behavioral-type questions such as "Tel me about a time when you worked with a team to solve a problem>' Was offered an interview after answering the questions.
I interviewed with the Operations Manager at my local store, where i was asked a specific series of questions form a booklet. The questions were also behavioral in nature, such as "How would you handle a rude customer?" etc. I was offered the position at the end of the interview.

Question 1
"Tell me about a time that you had to perform a task under a very tight deadline."
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Norwalk, CT) in Sep 2010
Interview
It was very simple. You fill out the physical application right there in the store or beforehand online. Wait around in the breakroom until called to the managers office for an interview. The interview will briefly go over your resume, and then I had to go through a few hypothetical customer service scenarios. You are given some information and then asked how you would respond as if the manager were the customer. Very simple and straightforward, very easy. I was given a job offer on the spot.

There was nothing difficult or unexpected, just answer the hypothetical customer service questions in a very straightforward way.
