I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Sevierville, TN) in Nov 2013
Interview
I went by my local home depot because the one 40 miles away kept calling to see if i wanted to come in for an interview. I asked my local home depot to see if they were hiring because i had applied online for a few different positions. They told me they were hiring for cashiers. The HR Manager emailed the other home depot and let the know i wouldn't be coming to their interview and the HR Manager gave me an interview. It went really well and she said i should hear something by friday. I was called the next day to come in friday to see The HR Manager. When i got there she was at lunch and the store manager asked if he could help me with anything. I told him i was suppose to come to see the hr manager. He told me she was at lunch but he would contact her to get her back to see me. As he was trying to reach her he asked my name and realized he was suppose to be giving me my 2nd interview. He stopped trying to find her and gave me my 2nd interview. During the interview i told him about my passion for Agriculture and how i graduate in May with a degree in Agricultural Business Management. He then shocked me by saying lets fix this right now. He changed to where, instead of me having to start out as cashier which is what the HR Manager called me back for as that was the only open position, then having to cross train to garden, he offered me a position to start out in garden. That was a dream come true. I also told him about graduating in May and thats my goal is to make it to management and if i could be department manager of garden i would start that way but i know i had to move my way up. He then made things even better by letting me know when i graduated show him how i graduated and as long as i showed i earned the position i would interview to become department head of garden. Not only did the manager say it was a very productive interview, I also think it was the store manager answered all my questions better than any other job interview i've ever been to and I'm really excited about working for such a reputable company.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
As the interview with the store manager carried on he asked more questions about me that actually made me feel like he cared about who worked for his company and was not just trying to fill an opening.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at The Home Depot (San Pedro, CA) in Mar 2013
Interview
I applied online which consisted of a skills test and a personality test. I was contacted by corporate HR (which they called "The Home Depot Retail Staffing Center") a couple days later and I had a phone interview, which consisted of a few questions involving work experience, work attitude, background, and information regarding the job I applied for which was a cashier. I passed the phone interview and had a one on one interview with the store HR, which they call an "ASDS". The interview consisted of basic scripted questions involving work experience which I already rehearsed the answers for. I also asked the interviewer some important questions to give me an insight into my future working at The Home Depot. After the interview, I was immediately scheduled for a second interview with the Store Manager. The second interview was a couple days later, and it was less formal and more personal. After that interview, I was sent to be drug tested the same day and I was told that I would be hired once my drug test and background check passed. Two weeks later I got the call that I was hired and scheduled for a group orientation.
